We wish to thank you for helping our children who are in need.
With your help we were able to reach out to 82 children, six of whom are orphans. We have indeed followed them all through the year. You should have seen the joy in their eyes at every approach we are making! At the beginning of the school year we provided them with all the school materials that they needed; the same we did at Christmas. Besides they each received two sets of uniforms, raincoat or umbrella. For quite a few we paid the necessary fees. At the beginning of winter season we distributed over 200 pieces of warm clothes and a blanket each. We gave out also some quilts to those in more need. Three families particularly in need have been helped with monthly supply of food (rice, beans, fish, sugar, salt, oil, vitamins, medicines ). Eight girls have been boarding in our house in Pyin Oo Lwin – two of these are orphan.
Their health has been good this year and so they missed school very little. We also offer them after-school follow up and many of them come and are helped in their studies. Some do not come for the simple reason that if they go to after-school tuition with their teacher they are sure to pass the examination. However we see that even those who come to us do well in the examination.
Quite a few families are really very poor and whether they have children they are adopted or not we give some help in kind: food, medicines and clothes. Many of them simply cannot get out of poverty since work is poorly paid, education is low and therefore people lack means to improve their condition. Often out of discouragement or bad company men fall into alcoholism, which throws the family in deeper poverty. Mortality is frequent among children and young people because of sickness that could be cured with means at disposal.
Both parents and children are happy and grateful for all the help they receive. Indeed our help, our care and love make them feel secure in the midst of difficulties that life brings.
