Diversity Charter |
The future of Europe is important to us and our nations! As young people we would like to have the opportunity to be active citizens and participants in our communities on a local, national and international level.
We, the young people who represent the following states: Ireland, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Albania and Italy, met as a group to discuss certain issues regarding diversity in Europe. We recognise the importance of the Council of Europe in creating and sustaining a united Europe and in defending human rights.
We would now like to inform you of the outcome from our meeting and hope you will be open to our findings and implement them!
Our findings are:
Diversity is a reality and we face it in all states.
We value diversity because when we have a greater awareness and understanding of other cultures this consolidates our identities and enriches our attitudes and values towards others.
In valuing diversity this allows for greater respect, which prevents social, political, economic, cultural, religious and ethnical discrimination.
As we represent different states we are all engaged at different levels (local, regional, national and international) and promote the value of diversity. We, as active citizens of Europe, help to create a great awareness, understanding and respect for cultures.
We ask for more financial and political support from local government, the EU and the Council of Europe in relation to the following:
1. Integration
-
faster procedures
- less bureaucracy
- accurate information in relation to employment,
legislation, housing and social welfare
2. Basic human rights for all to be uphold
3. Improved cooperation and communication between states
4. Create an open forum for public discussion and participation and active citizenship for all people especially young people
5. Informal intercultural education to be more widely spread in all nations in all of Europe
Implement all our requests to all member states tomorrow!!!!!
