In un quartiere povero keniano, Ban Ki-moon promette d’impegnarsi di più per eliminare la povertà
Il Segretario Generale delle Nazioni Unite oggi si è recato nel quartiere povero di Kiberia a Nairobi, dove ha invitato le persone a non perdere la speranza e ha promesso di impegnarsi maggiormente per eliminare la povertà a livello globale e altri disagi sociali. “Dobbiamo lavorare insieme e generare la volontà politica di attuare la piena implementazione degli Obiettivi di Sviluppo del Millennio.”
Ban è arrivato in Kenya dall’Etiopia, dove ha partecipato al vertice dell’Unione Africana. La sua presenza è stata “un segno forte della crescente collaborazione fra le Nazioni Unite e l’Unione Africana”.

At Kenyan slum, Ban Ki-moon pledges to work harder to eradicate poverty
The UN Secretary-General today travelled to Kiberia slum in Nairobi where he urged residents not to lose hope and pledged to work harder than ever to eradicate global poverty and other social ills. “We must work together and generate political will to have a smooth implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and I will work very closely, and harder than before.”
Mr. Ban arrived in Kenya from Ethiopia, where he had attended the African Union (AU) summit. His presence was “a strong sign of the growing partnership between the United Nations and the African Union”.
