Iraq: dopo il bombardamento dell’università, l’UNESCO invita il Governo a difendere il diritto all’educazione
L’UNESCO ha invitato il Governo iracheno a fare tutto ciò che è in suo potere per fermare l’ondata di violenza contro accademici e intellettuali, come dimostrato dai bombardamenti nell’università di Baghdad, che hanno ucciso e ferito dozzine di persone fra studenti e personale.
“Non è solo una tragedia umana ma anche un terribile ostacolo per la ricostruzione del Paese,” come dichiarato dal Direttore Generale dell’UNESCO Koïchiro Matsuura in una dichiarazione sull’attacco dell’ Università di Mustansiriya.

Iraq: after university bombing, UNESCO urges Government to defend right to education
UNESCO called on the Iraqi Government to do all in its power to stop the campaign of violence being waged against academics and intellectuals as typified by bombing at a Baghdad university, which killed and injured scores of students and staff.
“This is not only a human tragedy but also a terrible setback for the country's reconstruction,” UNESCO Director-General Koïchiro Matsuura said in a statement on the attack against Mustansiriya University.
