Le domande per partecipare al programma Erasmus-Mundus stanno aumentando
Per il prossimo anno scolastico, 1 377 studenti e 231 professori d’Università sono stati selezionati per poter partecipare al programma Erasmus-Mundus. Il numero di domande dei laureati dei paesi terzi (fuori Europa) e degli accademici per studiare e insegnare nelle Università Europee sta aumentando tanto velocemente che il programma dovrà essere esteso per rispondere alla domanda. “Le università europee stanno attirando la maggioranza dei migliori studenti e professori, grazie al sistema d’Erasmus Mundus,” ha affermato Jàn Figel, Il Commissario Europeo per la educazione e la formazione. I 57 corsi esistenti hanno ricevuto circa 6000 candidature per borse di studio da studenti di tutto il mondo. I 741 studenti selezionati per il programma generale Erasmus Mundus vengono da 92 paesi diversi, con Cina e Brasile nei primi posti. 636 studenti in più ricevono borse di studio dal così nominato “Asian Windows” , questi fondi in più aiutano a rispondere alle domande dei paesi asiatici. Il programma Erasmus Mundus è stato lanciato nel 2004 per promuovere la zona Europea come un centro d’eccellenza d’istruzione e per fornire borse di studio per gli studenti di paesi terzi.

Increasing demand for participation in Erasmus Mundus programme
For the upcoming academic year, 1,377 students and 231 university teachers have been selected to participate in the Erasmus Mundus programme. The level of demand from third-country graduates and academics to study and teach in Europe's universities has been increasing so rapidly that the programme had to be expanded to keep up with demand. "Europe's universities are now attracting more of the world's best graduate students and teachers, thanks to the Erasmus Mundus scheme," said Ján Figel', European Commissioner for Education and Training. The 57 existing courses received some 6,000 applications for scholarships from students and scholars from all over the world. The 741 students selected under the general Erasmus Mundus programme come from 92 different countries, with China and Brazil ranking in the first places. 636 additional students received scholarships under the so-called "Asian Windows", extra funds provided to cover the demand from specific Asian countries. The Erasmus Mundus programme was launched in 2004 to promote the EU as a centre of excellence in learning and to provide scholarships for third country nationals.
