La Commissione conferma l’accesso all’UE della Bulgaria e della Romania che avverà il 1 gennaio del 2007
Oggi la Commissione Europea ha adottato il suo rapporto di monitoraggio finale su come la Bulgaria e la Romania si stanno preparando per diventare membri dell’UE. In base ai grandi progressi fatti, la Commissione ritiene che entrambi i Paesi siano nelle condizioni di diventare membri dell’UE a tutti gli effetti il 1 gennaio 2007. Ma essa propone anche un pacchetto di misure di accompagnamento abbastanza rigorose.
Commentando la decisione della Commissione il Presidente José Manuel Barroso ha affermato : « L’accesso dei due paesi con le misure di accompagnamento che abbiamo proposto è un’occasione per completare il quinto allargamento dell’UE. Questo allargamento ha consolidato la pace e ha portato maggiore prosperità all’Europa. Questa è la giusta decisione per la Bulgaria e la Romania, e la giusta decisione per l’Europa ».
L’entrata nell’UE della Bulgaria e della Romania porterà all’interno dell’Europa 30 milioni di persone, completando il suo quinto allargamento e creando un’Unione di circa mezzo miliardo di cittadini.

Commission confirms Bulgaria’s and Romania’s EU accession on 1 January 2007
Today the Commission adopted its final monitoring report on the preparedness of Bulgaria and Romania for EU membership. Based on the solid progress achieved, the Commission considers that both countries will be in a position to take on the rights and obligations of EU membership on 1 January 2007. But it also a package of rigorous accompanying measures.
Commenting the Commission’s decision President José Manuel Barroso stated: “The accession of these two countries, as scheduled, with the accompanying measures, we propose, is a chance to complete the EU’s fifth enlargement. This enlargement has consolidated peace and brought more prosperity in Europe. This is the right decision for Bulgaria and for Romania and this is the right decision for Europe.”
Bulgaria’s and Romania’s accession will bring 30 million people into the EU, thus completing the EU’s historic fifth round of enlargement and creating a Union of almost half a billion citizens.
