Seminario sul traffico di esseri umani: proteggere i bambini dallo sfruttamento
La Presidenza Finlandese dell’Unione Europea ha fatto della lotta contro il traffico di esseri umani una delle sue priorità fondamentali. Dal 31 ottobre fino al primo novembre, si svolgerà un seminario sull’identificazione dei bambini a rischio di diventare vittime del traffico di esseri umani, come parte del Piano di Azione sul Traffico di Esseri Umani.
Secondo Kari Rajamäki, Presidente dell’UE, è di vitale importanza che i bambini a rischio siano identificati allo stadio iniziale, prima che diventino vittime dello sfruttamento. "I bambini e i genitori […] dovrebbero essere educati ai rischi del traffico di esseri umani e dovrebbero conoscere quali misure prendere nelle situazioni critiche", ha dichiarato.
Ha aggiunto che è necessaria una stretta “collaborazione con le autorità e le organizzazioni dei Paesi d’origine” e fra queste e le organizzazioni internazionali in tutte le fasi dell’identificazione della vittima.
Il Consiglio di Giustizia e Affari Interni di Dicembre discuterà sull’attuazione del piano d’azione e sulla necessità di aggiornarlo.

Human trafficking seminar: protecting children from exploitation
The Finnish EU Presidency has made the fight against human trafficking one of its key priorities. From 31 October to 1 November, it held a seminar on the identification of children at risk of becoming victims of human trafficking as part of the EU Action Plan on Trafficking in Human Beings.
According to Kari Rajamäki, (the EU President,) it is vital that children at risk are identified at a very early stage, before they become victims of exploitation. "Children and parents […] should be educated about the dangers of human trafficking and they should be told about the measures to be taken in problematic situations", he said
He added that close "cooperation with the authorities and organisations in countries of origin” and among them and international organisations was required in all the phases of victim identification.
The December Justice and Home Affairs Council will discuss the implementation of the action plan and the need to update it.
