Il Consiglio dei Diritti Umani ha dibattuto sul Rapporto sui bambini ed I conflitti armati In Liberia
Questa mattina, il Consiglio dei diritti Umani ha dibattuto sul rapporto dello Special Rapporteur del Segretario Generale per i bambini ed i conflitti armati e dell’ Esperto Indipendente per la cooperazione ed i servizi consultativi in Liberia.
Radhika Coomaraswamy, Special Rapporteur del segretario generale per i bambini ed i conflitti armati, ha dichiarato che il consiglio dovrebbe continuare ad incorporare la tematica dei bambini quando considera le specificità di un paese e anche la tematica delle inquietudini sui diritti umani nelle sue risoluzioni e discussioni.
Charlotte Abaka, L’Esperto Indipendente per la Cooperazione ed i Servizi Consultativi in Liberia, ha confermato che la Commissione della Riconciliazione e della Verità è stata inaugurata il 20 Febbraio del 2006, che però i progressi sono in qualche modo lenti.
Rapporto dello Special Rapporteur del Segretario Generale per i bambini ed i Conflitti Armati
Questo rapporto fornisce un aggiornamento sugli sforzi attuali per sottolineare le serie violazioni contro i bambini nei conflitti armati e per fare pressione sulle parti del conflitto che violano i diritti dei bambini.
Il rapporto mette l’accento sugli elementi delle attuali operazioni con i componenti chiave del sistema dei diritti Umani delle Nazioni Unite, e soprattutto sulle questioni per le future cooperazioni rispetto agli sforzi di riforma in corso. Il rapporto conclude che gli sforzi di riforma creano un momento importante per l’incorporazione del tema dei bambini colpiti dai conflitti armati nella polizia, nei piani e programmi strategici delle agenzie dei diritti umani delle Nazioni Unite.
Il Special Rapporteur ne approfitta per richiedere il rinnovamento dell’ impegno delle agenzie delle Nazioni Unite per assicurare, con i loro ruoli, che diventi realtà l’applicazione delle regole e degli standards internazionali per la protezione dei diritti dei bambini colpiti dalla guerra.

Human Rights council discusses reports on children and armed conflict and on Liberia
The Human Rights Council this morning discussed the reports of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for children and armed conflict, and of the Independent Expert on technical cooperation and advisory services in Liberia.
Radhika Coomaraswamy, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for children and armed conflict, said the Human Rights Council should continue to incorporate specific children in armed conflict when considering country-specific and thematic human rights concerns into its discussions and resolutions.
Charlotte Abaka, Independent Expert on technical cooperation and advisory services in Liberia, said that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Liberia was inaugurated on 20 February 2006. Initial progress was somehow slow.
Report of Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict
It which provides an update of ongoing efforts to highlight grave violations against children in armed conflict in order to bring pressure to bear on parties to conflict who violate the rights of children.
The report highlights elements of ongoing cooperation with the key components of the United Nations human rights system, while highlighting issues for further cooperation in light of reform efforts under way. The report concludes that reform efforts create a strong momentum for the incorporation of the issue of children affected by armed conflict into the policies, strategic plans and programmes of the key United Nations human rights entities. The Special Representative takes the opportunity to call for the renewal of the commitment by the key United Nations entities to ensure, within their respective roles, that the era of application of international norms and standards for the protection of the rights of war-affected children becomes a reality.
