I timori dell’UNICEF sull’impatto delle sanzioni sui bambini della Repubblica Democratica Popolare di Corea
In seguito alle dichiarazioni del Consiglio di Sicurezza delle Nazioni Unite, l’UNICEF ha ribadito che qualsiasi sanzione imposta contro la Repubblica Democratica di Corea dovrebbe essere attuata in modo da limitare gli effetti negativi su donne e bambini.
Il portavoce dell’UNICEF Micheal Bociurkiw, durante un incontro a Ginevra, ha affermato che “l’UNICEF è convinto che è necessaria una valutazione degli effetti sul bambino nel momento in cui sono applicate le sanzioni, e ancora più importante, un monitoraggio costante da lì in avanti per valutare l’impatto umanitario”.
Bociurkiw ha aggiunto che l’UNICEF lavora nella Repubblica Democratica Popolare di Corea con l’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità (OMS) e il Programma Alimentare Mondiale (PAM) e insieme nell’ultimo decennio hanno raggiunto “importanti traguardi” che ora potrebbero essere messi in pericolo nel caso in cui ci fossero delle “gravi interruzioni” durante la loro attività.

UNICEF cautions about impact on children of DPR Korea sanctions
Following UN Security Council statements, UNICEF warned that any sanctions imposed against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) should be crafted to minimize the negative impact on women and children.
UNICEF spokesman Michael Bociurkiw, during a briefing in Geneva, said that “UNICEF believes there must be a child impact assessment at the point of which any set of sanctions are applied, and most importantly, constant monitoring thereafter to gauge the humanitarian impact”.
UNICEF has been working in the DPRK with the World Health Organization (WHO) and World Food Programme (WFP) and together had made “significant gains” over the last decade that might now be in jeopardy if there are an “serious interruptions” in that work, Mr. Bociurkiw added.
