Progressi per alcuni obbiettivi dello sviluppo mentre ritardi per altri.
Il Rapporto delle Nazioni Unite
Secondo il rapporto delle Nazioni Unite pubblicato oggi: i paesi in via di sviluppo hanno fatto passi lunghi e decisivi sviluppando l’accesso all’ acqua e all’ educazione, mentre gli sforzi per raggiungere gli altri obbiettivi internazionali concordati per ridurre l’estrema povertà e per combattere le malattie rimangono indietro.
Il nuovo Rapporto intitolato “Il Rapporto sullo Sviluppo del Millennio delle Nazioni Unite del 2006”, richiama l’attenzione su alcuni obbiettivi , come ridurre del cinquanta per cento la popolazione mondiale che non ha accesso a cure mediche adeguate, che non saranno raggiunti in tempo “senza nuovi sforzi”.

Progress timely on some development goals, but lags on others – UN report
Developing countries have made strides in providing access to clean water and schooling, but efforts to achieve other internationally agreed targets to combat extreme poverty and a host other global ills are falling behind schedule, according to a United Nations report released today.
While highlight the MDG success stories in water access and schooling, the new study, entitled the “UN Millennium Development Report 2006,” points out that some of the goals, such as halving the percentage of the world’s population who have no access to decent sanitation facilities, are unlikely to be met “without greatly accelerated efforts.”
