Darfur: Inviato Speciale delle Nazioni Unite si reca nella capitale del Sudan per incoraggiare le azioni di pace
L’Inviato Speciale delle Nazioni Unite per il Darfur Jan Eliasson si è recato a Khartoum in occasione della seconda fase della missione che promuove l’attività delle Nazioni Unite per trovare una soluzione permanente al conflitto in Darfur.
La Missione delle Nazioni Unite in Sudan (UNMIS, United Nations Mission in Sudan) oggi si è congratulata con il popolo per il secondo anniversario dalla firma del Trattato di Pace Globale (CPA, Comprehensive Peace Agreement) che ha posto fine a due decenni di guerra civile fra il Nord e il Sud del Paese.
L’applicazione del Trattato dà inizio a una fase nuova e più complessa, che richiederà maggiore impegno da entrambe le parti e della comunità internazionale,” ha affermato l’UNMIS in una dichiarazione, citando come priorità il puntuale spiegamento delle forze armate e l’integrazione o la dissoluzione di altri gruppi armati.
“L’UNMIS conferma il proprio impegno ad assistere le parti al Trattato e il popolo sudanese nell’affrontare queste sfide e nel raggiungere l’applicazione completa, effettiva e puntuale di tutti gli aspetti del Trattato,” come dichiarato dalla missione.

Darfur: UN Special Envoy arrives in Sudan’s capital to boost peace efforts
The UN Special Envoy for Darfur Jan Eliasson, has arrived in Khartoum on the second stage of a mission promoting United Nations efforts to find a permanent solution to the conflict in Darfur.
The United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) today congratulated the people on the second anniversary of the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) that ended two decades of civil war between North and South Sudan.
The implementation of the CPA enters a new, more complex phase that will require the redoubled commitment of both the parties and the international community,” UNMIS said in a statement, citing as priorities the timely redeployments of armed forces and the integration or dissolution of other armed groups.
“UNMIS remains committed to assisting the parties to the CPA and the people of Sudan in meeting these challenges and achieving a full, effective, and timely implementation of all aspects of the CPA,” the mission said.
