Papua New Guinea: agenzie ONU allarmate da rapporti dove emerge che persone affette da HIV vengono sepolte vive
Il capo dei diritti umani delle Nazioni Unite e l’agenzia dell’ente mondiale HIV/AIDS hanno espresso una dichiarazione congiunta lanciando l’allarme sui rapporti dove risulta che persone affette dall’HIV sono state sepolte vive nella regione montagnosa del sud della Papua Nuova Guinea.
L’Ufficio dell’Alto Commissariato per i Diritti Umani (OHCHR) e il Programma Congiunto ONU per l’HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) hanno annunciato che il governo della Papua Nuova Guinea investigherà sui tali crimini, ed hanno chiesto alle autorità di conseguentemente prendere “le adeguate misure legali” contro i responsabili di tali violazioni dei diritti umani.

Papua New Guinea: UN agencies alarmed by reports that HIV sufferers are buried alive
The United Nations human rights chief and the world body’s HIV/AIDS agency today issued a joint statement voicing alarm at reports that people living with HIV have been buried alive in the Southern Highlands region of Papua New Guinea.
The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the Joint UN Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) backed the announcement that the Government of Papua New Guinea will investigate the reported crimes, and called on authorities to take “appropriate legal action” against any perpetrators of those human rights violations.
