Guinea-Bissau: Ban chiede un “maggiore controllo” dopo l’uccisione di un ex capitano
Il Segretario Generale Ban Ki-moon ha chiesto al Governo e ai leader politici della Guinea-Bissau di esercitare un maggiore controllo, dopo l’assassinio di un ex capitano di un piccolo paese dell’Africa Occidentale. Ban è particolarmente preoccupato per le morti causate dall’intervento delle forze di sicurezza durante le proteste contro l’omicidio, e chiede agli abitanti della Guinea-Bissau di non farsi giustizia da sé.
Lo scorso mese, il Consiglio di Sicurezza ha esteso il mandato di sette anni dell’Ufficio di Supporto ONU per la Peacebuilding in Guinea-Bissau (UNOGBIS) di un anno.

Guinea-Bissau: Ban appeals for ‘utmost restraint’ after killing of former navy chief
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on the Government and political leaders of Guinea-Bissau to exercise utmost restraint, after the killing of the small West African country’s former Navy Chief. Ban is particularly distressed by the loss of life that occurred following the intervention of the security forces during protests against the killing and urges the people of Guinea-Bissau not to take the law into their own hands.
Last month, the Security Council extended the mandate of the seven-year-old UN Peacebuilding Support Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNOGBIS) for another year.
