Fornire un lavoro decente è la chiave per ottenere una migliore globalizzazione – Migiro
Il Deputato Segretario Generale Asha-Rose Migiro ha detto oggi che se la globalizzazione deve mantenere le promesse di aumentare le opportunità e i benefici per tutti i paesi, deve essere accompagnata da un impiego decente che faccia avanzare sia il business che i lavoratori.
Ms. Migiro ha detto ad un evento su impiego e globalizzazione organizzato dall’istituto no profit Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung che per molte persone in giro per il mondo, raggiungere un “globalizzazione equa” è molto semplice. “Vogliono che i governi ed il settore privato forniscano lavori appaganti e produttivi – lavori che offrano stipendi adeguati, mentre cresce un senso di utilità e di dignità.”
Ma allo stesso tempo, le compagnie devono far fronte a domande di riduzione del costo del lavoro ed all’aumento della loro competitività internazionale, ha notato Migiro, aggiungendo che troppo spesso, gli impiegati pagano le spese di queste domande conflittuali. “Le leggi sul Lavoro e la protezione dei Lavoratori sono spesso inadeguate; l’impiego aumenta in modo casuale ed informale,” ha detto.
Ms. Migiro ha fatto riferimento al recente Rapporto ONU sulla Situazione Sociale del Mondo che ha confermato una crescente convinzione condivisa che molto lavoro resta da fare per raggiungere una piena e produttiva occupazione per tutti.

Providing decent work key to achieving fairer globalization – Migiro
If globalization is to deliver on its promise of increased opportunities and benefits for all countries, it must be accompanied by decent employment that advances both business and workers, Deputy Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro said today.
For many people around the world, achieving “fairer globalization” is very simple, Ms. Migiro said at an event on employment and globalization hosted by the non-profit institution Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung. “They want governments and the private sector to deliver productive, fulfilling jobs – jobs that offer an adequate income, while enhancing a sense of self-worth and dignity.”
But at the same time, companies face demands to reduce labour costs and increase their international competitiveness, she noted, adding that too often, these conflicting demands play out at the expense of employees. “Labour regulations and protection of workers’ rights are often inadequate; employment is increasingly casual and informal,” she said.
Ms. Migiro pointed to the recent UN Report on the World Social Situation which confirmed an increasingly shared belief that much work remains to be done to achieve full and productive employment for all.
